Shower steam – gone forever!
An innovative Tauranga based company has invented an inexpensive shower top device that stops shower steam forming in your bathroom.
Showerdome prevents:
- mirrors misting
- wet dripping windows
- paint damage
- mould and mildew forming
- airborne moisture floating into adjacent rooms – which causes cold damp fabrics, bedding, and other problems
Sound too good to be true?
Showerdome clear acrylic shower top:
- fits most existing showers
- eliminates steam from your bathroom – forever
- only takes an approved installer around 90 minutes to fit
- has no moving parts
- is inexpensive, costs nothing to run, saves you money
- lasts forever
- makes your home a warmer, drier, healthier place to live
How does Showerdome work?
Steam only occurs when warm wet air inside the shower collides with cold air outside the shower. A Showerdome fitted to your shower stops warm and cold air from colliding, which causes condensation and steam.

Ken Evans, the inventor, came up with the idea one night while waiting for his kettle to boil. Ken noticed that steam was coming out of the nozzle of the electric glass kettle, but that there was no steam above the water line inside the kettle. It suddenly occurred to him that steam is not created until the moist hot air collides with the cooler air outside the kettle.
Ken thought "This must apply to the problem of steam in my bathroom too!" He rushed to the basement, found a flat sheet, put it on top of his shower, turned the mixer to hot and after an hour there was still no steam in his shower or bathroom. The concept of Showerdome was born.
Showerdome has many other benefits too, your towels dry faster, and there is no need to run expensive heated mirrors or fan heaters and you can reduce heated towel rail usage. There are lower maintenance costs as paint and wall paper do not get the same steam damage. Your shower is much warmer as cold air does not get in and you may also save power or use less hot water. Installing one or two Showerdomes is much less expensive than continuously running dehumidifiers or installing a home ventilation system. A Showerdome takes 90 minutes to fit and costs around $395.00.
